Plant Sale - June 2009
Age Concern in Basingstoke has held a Plant Sale for many years
now.
Initially from a local community or village hall, but of late,
we have combined this into the Basingstoke Voluntary Services
Charity Fayre, which is held in Market Square in The Malls Shopping
Centre.
This year it was held on 4 June to coincide with Volunteer Week. In
total twelve charities took part in the event.
Staff and Volunteers from the Age Concern Basingstoke office
assisted customers with their purchases of either bedding plants,
perennials, foxgloves, geraniums and many more.
All plants were
provided by Wolverton Plants, a local nursery who has helped Age
Concern for over 10 years now, in order to raise much needed funds
for the local Charity.
As can be seen from the photos, our stall was very busy. MP Maria
Miller visited the Fayre speaking to participants and wishing them
well in raising awareness and funds.
Age Concern, in addition to selling plants, also had a FREE prize
draw for a magnificent hanging basket, again provided by Wolverton
plants. The winner can be seen here receiving the basket from
Beverley Jones, Community Services Manager.
Age Concern raised £230 from the sale of plants which will help
greatly towards the services we provide locally.
We would like to
say a big THANK YOU to all our helpers and also the customers who
purchased plants.
