Support Us
It is often assumed that Age Concern in Basingstoke is financially supported by AC England or AC Hampshire. This is not so – every penny we require to provide local services has to be found from local contracts, client contributions and fundraising.
Our services have expanded greatly over the last few years to meet the need of the growing older population of Basingstoke and surrounding areas. Unfortunately, the growth of our funding has not kept pace and we are faced with having to raise more money ourselves every year.
There are several ways in which you can help
Make a donation
Donations are very precious to us. However small, they make a
difference and demonstrate that our work is valued and supported.
Any money received goes towards local services.
Become a 'Friend'
The group of ‘Friends’ was set-up in early 2005. They support the
local charity in many different ways including an annual donation.
Such regular income helps us plan ahead resulting in improved and
additional services. Click on the link above to find out more.
If you are a UK Taxpayer Age Concern in Basingstoke can reclaim the tax you have already paid as ‘Gift Aid’. This means that a donation of £10 would be worth £12.80 to us. Please complete a ‘gift-aid’ form and return it with your donation. Cheques should be made payable to Age Concern in Basingstoke and posted to our address.
Collection Tins
Most people wish to donate their small change and are quite happy to
put it into a collection box next to a shop till. We have several
already out there and on average yield £60 - £100 per annum.
If you own a shop, restaurant, hair dressing salon, etc, would you
be able to place one of our collections tins on your counter? We
collect them on a regular basis, approximately every 10-12 weeks. If
you can help, please telephone or
e-mail.

Hold a fund-raising event in aid of Age
Concern in Basingstoke
We already have a small number of individuals who organise events
such as Garden Days, Coffee mornings, Bring & Buy sales, Sponsored
Events, etc. Those are just some suggestions, you may have other
ideas. We are happy to listen to your ideas and provide a collection
tin and Age Concern leaflets for an event held in aid of Age Concern
in Basingstoke. As the saying goes “every little helps” so if you
can help in any way, please let us know.

Donations in kind
Your unwanted gifts, spirits, wines, etc can be used at one of our
fundraising events or be used as a raffle or tombola prize. You may
even have some antiques or other valuables which you would like to
donate, so that we can turn these into much needed funds. Please
contact us if you have anything you feel may be of interest to us.

Donations in memory
We are very grateful to the families and friends who give donations
in memory of their loved ones, instead of flowers at funerals. If
you feel you would like to do this, cheques either from the Funeral
Director or yourselves need to be made payable to “Age Concern in
Basingstoke” and forwarded to our address.

Leave a Legacy
You may wish to leave money or a gift to Age Concern in Basingstoke
in your will. If you don't have any immediate family, it is
important that you decide where your money goes. If you have
dependents, without jeopardising the future for you or your loved
ones, you can still help by leaving money to Age Concern in your
will.
What are the different types of legacy?
- residuary legacy means you register your commitment to help us without stating a fixed amount - you simply bequeath us the residue of your estate after all other bequests have been paid. Many people leave the residue to charity as this can have the benefit of helping to reduce the Inheritance Tax liability.
- pecuniary legacy means you gift a precise sum of money but this could be devalued by inflation.
- specific legacy means you gift a particular item which could be stocks and shares, a piece of furniture or even a house.
Please telephone Maria Mitchell on 01256 423874 if you want to talk about leaving a legacy. She will be happy to talk to you over the phone, or if you prefer, arrange a meeting.
Alternatively, when your solicitor draws up your will, ask him to
include our charity details.
